F.A.Q & Policies

  • How far are you from Palo Duro Canyon?

    We are only about a mile from the state park, as the crow flies. By road, it is a five-minute drive, at most, from our gate to the state park gate.

  • What type of payment methods do you accept?

    We accept all major forms of credit card and PayPal.

  • What is your refund policy?

    Guests get a full refund if they cancel 30 days or more before check-in. 


    There is a non-refundable option of paying 10% less for the booking, but no refund if cancelled at anytime.


    There is no refund if cancelled within 30 days of check-in.

  • Can I ride the horses?

    No. These horses are senior animals, and are too old to be ridden. We also ask that guests do not feed them, as some of them have special dietary needs.

  • What is your pet policy?

    At this time, we only allow guests to have one small dog at Buffalo Lodge cabin with pre-approval. We do not allow any other species of pet. More about our Dog Policy can be found in the Accomodations page for Buffalo Lodge.


    Pets are NOT ALLOWED at Rider's Roost cabin at anytime. 

  • Is swimming allowed in the pond?

    While we understand the temptation to take a refreshing dip in the pond, swimming is in the fishing pond is strictly prohibited.  We do, however, provide chairs for you to relax by the water side, and fishing rods and lures for you to use and enjoy the pond as intended.

  • Are you on social media?

    Yes. The Hideout at Palo Duro Canyon can be found on both Facebook and Instagram.
