Andrea & John
Andrea has been riding horses competitively since childhood, while John always dreamed of owning one. When 6.5 acres of land became available near their home in Sunday Canyon, they seized the opportunity, initially just to fulfill John’s dream of owning a horse. However, that simple idea grew into a two-cabin vacation rental business on a senior horse retirement sanctuary.
Andrea, a potter who creates micaceous cookware using clay she hand digs from the mountains of northern New Mexico, practices traditional techniques passed down by Indigenous peoples. Her work is available at Pasqual’s Gallery in Santa Fe. Since 2017, Andrea has been hosting on Airbnb, enjoying the opportunity to meet guests from around the world. She also volunteers at Safe Hayven Equine Rescue and loves discussing equine rescue with visitors.
John, who works in commercial HVAC installation, shares Andrea’s passion for horses and the sanctuary. In his downtime, he enjoys painting, playing guitar, and caring for their horses, making the sanctuary a true reflection of their combined dreams and interests.
